Terms of Service

Last Updated: October 4, 2026

The short version

These are the rules for using Spliced. Most of them are what you would guess: be decent to other people, do not break the law with our software, and do not try to game the results.

The rest is the boring-but-necessary part — what we promise, what we do not, and what happens if something goes wrong between us. We have kept it as short as we can without hiding anything.

Two things worth knowing before you read on: disputes go to individual arbitration rather than court, and you can opt out of that within 30 days. If the law where you live doesn't allow that kind of clause, it doesn't apply to you. All of it is in Section 17.

1. Agreeing to these terms

Spliced (listed as "Spliced: Social Compatibility" on the App Store, Google Play and TikTok) is run by Grayfin Labs Inc. ("Grayfin", "we", "us"), a Canadian federal corporation. The Service means our website at wespliced.com, our web app, and our iPhone and Android apps.

Using the Service means you accept these Terms. If you do not, please do not use it.

We may change these Terms. If a change is material we will tell you through the Service, by email, or by other reasonable means before it takes effect, and continuing to use Spliced afterwards means you accept the new version.

These Terms contain an agreement to arbitrate, a class action waiver, and limits on our liability. They affect your legal rights, so please read Sections 14 through 17 properly rather than skimming them.

Your privacy

What we collect, what we do with it, and the choices you get — including analytics, advertising, and how both depend on your age and where you live — are all in our Privacy Policy. It is part of your agreement with us, and it is the authority on anything to do with your personal information. Where these Terms and the Privacy Policy describe the same thing, the Privacy Policy governs.

2. Who can use Spliced

Age

You must be at least 13 to use Spliced, and at least 14 if you are in Quebec. Creating an account is your confirmation that you meet the minimum where you live. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you confirm that a parent or guardian agrees to your use of the Service.

If we find an account belonging to someone below the minimum, we will close it and delete the data attached to it. Separately, some places set a higher age before a young person can agree to analytics or advertising on their own — that is a privacy matter, and the Privacy Policy explains how we handle it.

Your account

You agree to give accurate information when you register and keep it current, to keep your login details to yourself, and to accept responsibility for what happens under your account. Do not share an account with anyone else.

One account each

Do not create extra accounts to get around a block, a cooldown, a suspension, or any other restriction. We may terminate duplicate or fraudulent accounts.

3. What Spliced is

Spliced helps you find out how aligned you are with people you know — friends, partners, family — through compatibility questions, AI-generated insights, and shareable Splice cards. Features include Splices, ReSplices, Deep Splices, Group Splices and Vibe Check.

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice, and we are not liable to you or anyone else for doing so.

Features we have not built yet

We sometimes describe things that are planned rather than finished — Spliced Club, for instance, which would let members find people they have not met and see local events. Anything described as planned, upcoming, beta, preview or experimental may change, arrive late, or never arrive. Do not subscribe on the strength of something that does not exist yet.

4. Spliced+ and payments

Spliced+ is our paid subscription. It unlocks ReSplice, Deep Splice, Group Splice and Vibe Check, monthly or annually, at the price shown when you buy.

Who you are actually buying from

This depends on where you buy, and it decides who handles your money, your tax and your refund:

  • On the web or the web app — Grayfin Labs Inc. is the seller and merchant of record. Stripe, Inc. processes the payment on our behalf; Stripe is the processor only, and Grayfin remains responsible for the transaction, the applicable taxes and any refund.
  • In the iPhone app — the Apple App Store processes the purchase under Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.
  • In the Android app — Google Play processes the purchase under Google's Play Store Terms.

Each of those has its own terms, which apply on top of these ones.

Renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, unless you cancel first. Subscribing authorises us and our payment processors to charge your payment method each time it renews. If a renewal payment fails and cannot be collected, your Spliced+ ends.

Cancelling

Cancel any time — in your account settings for a web purchase, or through your Apple ID or Google Play account for an in-app one. You keep Spliced+ until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then it stops.

Changing plan

Switching from monthly to annual takes effect immediately. The annual price is charged today, less credit for the unused part of the current month, and your year starts today. Switching from annual to monthly takes effect at the end of the year you have already paid for. Nothing is charged until then, and unused annual time is not refunded.

Refunds

The full terms are in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In short:

  • Web purchases — first-time subscribers have 14 calendar days from purchase to ask for a full refund, subject to the conditions in the Refund Policy. Ask us at support@wespliced.com.
  • App Store purchases — Apple handles refunds, under Apple's policies.
  • Google Play purchases — Google handles refunds for roughly the first 48 hours, under Google's policies. After that, ask us.

Consumer law where you live may give you more than this, and where it does, it wins.

Trials and offers

We may run free trials, promotional pricing or other offers, and may change or withdraw them at any time. Where a free trial applies, it becomes a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before then.

Price changes

We may change prices. If the price of a subscription you already hold changes, we will tell you before it takes effect so you can cancel first.

5. How to behave

You are responsible for what you do on Spliced and what you post. Do not use the Service to:

  • Harass, bully, threaten, intimidate or harm anyone.
  • Post hate speech or content attacking people for their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other protected characteristic.
  • Post sexually explicit material, nudity, or anything otherwise obscene.
  • Do anything illegal, or help someone else do it.
  • Impersonate a person or organisation, or misrepresent your connection to one.
  • Create spam, fake or fraudulent accounts.
  • Send Splice requests to people with no reasonable basis for thinking they would welcome one from you.
  • Stalk, surveil or coerce anyone.
  • Answer questions dishonestly in order to manipulate a result.
  • Create extra accounts to get around a block, cooldown, suspension or other restriction.
  • Use bots, scrapers or crawlers on the Service, or collect data from it automatically.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Service, or try to derive its source code.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers, or the networks it runs on.
  • Use the Service commercially without our written permission.
  • Share someone else's personal information without their consent.
  • Get around technical limits, content protections or geographic restrictions.

We may investigate and act on breaches of this section — removing content, suspending or terminating accounts, and reporting to law enforcement where that is warranted.

6. What you post

Your Content means anything you put into the Service: your answers, your profile details and photo, and anything else you upload or share.

The licence you give us

To run Spliced we need permission to store and display what you post. So you grant Grayfin a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable and sublicensable licence to use, reproduce, modify, distribute, store and display Your Content, solely to operate, provide and improve the Service. It ends when you delete the content or your account, except where the content has already been shared with other people, or where we have to keep it for legal or operational reasons.

We do not claim ownership of Your Content, and we do not use it to train AI models. How it reaches our AI provider, and in what form, is in the Privacy Policy.

What you are promising us

That you own Your Content or have the rights to it, that it does not infringe anyone else's intellectual property or privacy rights, and that it complies with these Terms and the law.

Feedback

If you send us suggestions or ideas about Spliced, we may use them for any purpose, without payment or attribution. Please do not send us anything you want to keep or be paid for.

7. AI-generated content

Parts of Spliced — Splice card highlights, Vibe Check, Deep Splice insights — are written by AI. That means:

  • It is for entertainment and social purposes. It is not professional advice of any kind — not counselling, not psychological, medical, legal or financial advice.
  • Compatibility scores and insights are not predictions or assessments of a real relationship, and not a forecast of how one will go.
  • It can be wrong. AI output sometimes contains errors, inaccuracies or things nobody expected, and we do not guarantee it is accurate, reliable or complete.
  • It should not be the basis for a decision that matters. Do not end a relationship, take a job, or make a financial or medical choice because of what a Splice card said.

Using AI-generated content is at your own risk.

8. Other people

Spliced puts you in contact with other people, through Splices, ReSplices, Deep Splices and Group Splices. So:

  • You are responsible for your own interactions with other users.
  • What someone shares with you through a Splice — their answers, for instance — was shared in that context. Treat it with discretion.
  • We are not responsible for what other users do, say or post, and we are not obliged to mediate between you.
  • If you fall out with another user, you release us from claims arising out of that dispute.

Reporting and blocking

You can report someone through the in-app tools or at support@wespliced.com, and we will review it and act as we think appropriate. You can also block someone: that stops them sending you direct Splice requests, and stops either of you adding the other to a new Group Splice. It does not pull either of you out of a group you are already in.

9. Messages we send you

About your account

Creating an account means agreeing to receive the emails and in-app notifications that come with having one — Splice requests, results, reminders, security alerts, important service notices. These are not marketing, and the only way to stop them is to close your account.

Texts

If you give us a phone number you may get texts about Splice invitations and account activity. Frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help, START to resubscribe.

Push notifications

The apps can send push notifications about Splice requests, results and reminders. Turn them off in your device settings whenever you like.

Marketing

With your consent, or where the law otherwise allows it, we may send you marketing about new features and offers. Every one has an unsubscribe link, and you can also change this in your settings. What counts as consent, and where we have to ask for it first, is in the Privacy Policy.

Waitlists

Joining a waitlist for something we have not launched yet means we may contact you about that feature. That is separate from marketing, and it does not sign you up for it.

10. Our intellectual property

Everything in the Service that is not Your Content — the text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio, data, software, and the way it is all designed and arranged — belongs to Grayfin or its licensors and is protected by Canadian and international law.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, for as long as you keep to these Terms. Beyond that, do not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease or build derivative works from the Service.

Our name and marks

"Spliced", the Spliced logo, and our other marks and trade dress belong to Grayfin Labs Inc. Do not use them for any product or service without our written permission.

11. Copyright complaints

We respect other people's copyright and expect the same. If you think something on Spliced infringes yours, email support@wespliced.com with "Copyright Notice" in the subject line and include:

  • Your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or someone authorised to act for them.
  • What the copyrighted work is.
  • What the infringing material is, in enough detail for us to find it.
  • Your address, telephone number and email address.
  • A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the owner, their agent, or the law.
  • A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for them.

If we conclude that content infringes, we will remove it or disable access to it. Accounts that infringe repeatedly get terminated.

12. Other companies, and things still being built

The Service links to and integrates with things we do not run. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices, and what happens between you and them is between you and them — their terms apply on top of ours. The providers we use to operate Spliced are listed in the Privacy Policy.

Anything labelled beta, preview or experimental is provided as-is, may contain bugs, may not be supported, and may be changed or withdrawn without notice. Using it is at your own risk.

13. Ending your account

Your side

Delete your account whenever you like, from Settings on the web or in the app. When you do, we delete it the same day — there is no waiting period and no way for us to bring it back. A few things survive, mostly because they belong to other people too; exactly what goes and what stays is set out in the Privacy Policy.

If you subscribed on the web, deleting your account cancels it too. If you subscribed in the App Store or Google Play, it does not — only the store can cancel that one, so cancel it there first or you will keep being charged after the account is gone. If you think you are owed a refund, ask before you delete rather than after — the Refund Policy explains why.

Our side

We may suspend, restrict or terminate your account or your access to the Service, in whole or in part, at any time, including if:

  • You breach these Terms or the law.
  • We suspect fraud, abuse or illegal activity on your account.
  • Your account has been inactive for a very long time. Nothing closes on its own: if we ever do this it would be after at least 24 months, and we would email you first and give you a chance to keep it.
  • Continuing to provide the Service to you stops being commercially viable.
  • We otherwise reasonably consider it necessary.

If we suspend your account, it stays suspended rather than deleted while you appeal. We will email you about it after 60 days, and if it is still suspended 90 days in, we delete it — the same permanent deletion described above.

Afterwards

Your right to use the Service stops immediately. The parts of these Terms that are meant to outlast it do — the licence you gave us for content already shared, our intellectual property, the disclaimer, the liability cap, the indemnity and the dispute provisions.

14. What we do not promise

Plainly: Spliced is a compatibility game, not an instrument. We try hard to keep it running and accurate, but we are not promising that it always will be, and the clause below is what that means legally.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, Grayfin and its officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates, licensors and service providers (the "Grayfin Parties") disclaim all warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement.

The Grayfin Parties do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements; that it will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free; that its results will be accurate or meet your expectations; that defects will be corrected; or that AI-generated content, compatibility scores, insights or highlights will be accurate, reliable or appropriate.

Some places do not allow these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.

15. What we are liable for

Plainly: if we get something badly wrong, what you can recover from us is capped — at CAD $100, or what you actually paid us in the six months before, whichever is greater.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Grayfin Parties will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill or other intangible losses, on any legal theory, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the Service, even if advised of the possibility.

The Grayfin Parties' total aggregate liability to you, for all damages, losses and causes of action, will not exceed the greater of (a) One Hundred Canadian Dollars (CAD $100) or (b) what you paid Grayfin for the Service in the six (6) months before the event giving rise to the liability.

Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you. Where that is so, our liability is limited as far as the law allows. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16. Covering our costs

Plainly: if you cause a legal problem for us through your own conduct, you pay for it rather than us.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Grayfin Parties from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or relating to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your breach of these Terms; (c) your breach of anyone else's rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights; (d) any claim that Your Content harmed a third party; or (e) your conduct on the Service, including with other users.

17. Disputes

Please read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights, and it has a deadline in it.

Talk to us first

Before starting any formal action, email support@wespliced.com and give us a chance to sort it out. If we have not resolved it within 60 days, either of us can move to the next stage.

Arbitration instead of court

A dispute we cannot resolve informally goes to final and binding arbitration rather than court, except as set out below. It will be heard by a single arbitrator in Toronto, Ontario, under the rules of the ADR Institute of Canada or, where applicable, the American Arbitration Association's Consumer Arbitration Rules. The award is final, and judgment on it may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.

You and Grayfin agree that any proceedings will be brought only individually, and not as a plaintiff or class member in a class, consolidated or representative action. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims or preside over a representative or class proceeding. You waive any right to a jury trial and to take part in a class action.

What is still allowed in court

Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court where it fits, seek an injunction to protect intellectual property, or raise a matter with a government agency.

Opting out of arbitration

You have 30 days from first accepting these Terms to opt out. Email support@wespliced.com with your full name, your account email, and a clear statement that you are opting out of arbitration. Opt out and disputes go to the Ontario courts instead. Nothing else about your account changes, and we will not treat you differently for doing it.

If your local law says otherwise

If the law where you live doesn't allow arbitration or class-action waivers in consumer contracts, those parts of this section don't apply to you, and your local courts and consumer laws do.

Where these Terms are governed

The laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to the arbitration provisions above, you and Grayfin submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Ontario courts. If consumer law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally, this does not take that away.

18. If you are using one of the apps

The app stores require us to say the following, and it is genuinely useful to know: your agreement is with us, not with them.

Apple

If you use the Service on an Apple device, these additional terms apply:

  • These Terms are between you and Grayfin only, not Apple Inc. ("Apple"). Grayfin, not Apple, is solely responsible for the Service and its content.
  • Your licence to use the Service on Apple devices is a non-transferable licence to use it on any Apple-branded device you own or control, as permitted by Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the Service.
  • If the Service fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the relevant in-app purchase, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the Service.
  • Grayfin, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim from you or a third party relating to the Service.
  • Grayfin, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging any third-party claim that the Service infringes their intellectual property rights.
  • You confirm you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the Service.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

Google

If you get the Service through Google Play: these Terms are between you and Grayfin only, not Google LLC ("Google"); your use must comply with the current Google Play Terms of Service; Google is not responsible for the Service or its content and has no liability to you in connection with it; and Google is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms as they relate to the Service.

19. The rest of the fine print

  • The whole agreement — these Terms, with the Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between us about the Service, and replace anything said before.
  • If part of it fails — a provision found invalid or unenforceable is narrowed to the least extent needed to make it work, and the rest stands.
  • Not enforcing something once — does not mean we have given up the right to enforce it later.
  • Transfers — you may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them, for example if Spliced is sold or merged.
  • Things outside our control — we are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, war, civil unrest, government action, labour disputes, power cuts, and internet or third-party service failures.
  • Notices — we may reach you through the Service, by email to your account address, or by other reasonable means. Reach us at support@wespliced.com.
  • Headings — are there to help you find things, and have no legal effect.
