The short version

Spliced works because people answer honestly. That only happens if it feels safe to, so these are the ground rules that keep it that way.

They are not a complete list of everything that could go wrong. Use your judgement, and when you are not sure, lean kind.

They sit alongside our Terms, which is where the same rules are written out in full.

1. Don't be a jerk

No harassment

Bullying, threats, blackmail, stalking, or going after someone repeatedly — none of it belongs here. Splice with people you actually want to Splice with, and if someone passes, take the answer.

No hate

Content that attacks or demeans people for their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other part of who they are gets removed.

Respect what you learn

What somebody tells you through a Splice, they told you in that context. Do not screenshot it to embarrass them, do not hold it over them, and do not share their contact details or anything else private without asking.

Nothing sexual, and nothing involving minors, ever

No sexually explicit material, nudity, or obscene content. Sexual content involving minors is reported to the authorities, not just removed.

Keep your photo appropriate

Your profile photo is the first thing people see. Nothing explicit, hateful, or glorifying self-harm or violence.

2. Be honest

Be yourself

Do not pretend to be someone else, invent an identity, or claim to work for Spliced when you do not.

One account

Do not open a second account to get around a block, a cooldown, or a suspension.

Answer honestly

Do not deliberately answer wrong to move someone's score. A rigged result is worth nothing to either of you, and it wastes the thing that makes Spliced work at all.

3. Keep Spliced working

No spam

Do not send invitations to numbers or addresses belonging to people you do not actually know. A Splice is meant to be personal.

No bots or scraping

No bots, scripts, crawlers or automated collection of anything from Spliced. Do not reverse engineer it, do not try to break it, and do not get around technical limits or regional restrictions.

Not for business

Spliced is for personal use. Using it commercially needs our written permission first.

Found a security hole?

Please tell us at support@wespliced.com rather than testing how far it goes. We would much rather hear from you, and we will not come after anyone who reports something in good faith and gives us a chance to fix it.

4. Stay legal

Follow the law where you are. Do not use Spliced to arrange or promote anything illegal — drugs, weapons, fraud, or anything else.

Only post what is yours to post. If you upload a photo, it should be one you have the right to use.

You need to be at least 13 to be here, and at least 14 in Quebec.

5. Reporting and blocking

Two different tools, for two different problems.

Blocking

Blocking stops someone sending you direct Splice requests, and stops either of you adding the other to a new Group Splice. It does not pull either of you out of a group you are already in — if that is what you need, email us and we will sort it.

Blocking is private. We do not tell the other person.

Reporting

The report button covers the things we can act on from a profile: an obscene name, an inappropriate photo, and spam or harassment through invitations. There is an "other" box too, though it is deliberately short.

So for anything that needs explaining — a pattern of behaviour, something that happened across several Splices, anything involving a minor or a real-world threat — email support@wespliced.com instead. You can give us the detail there, and it reaches a person either way.

Reporting someone does not block them, and blocking someone does not report them. If you want both, do both.

6. What happens if someone breaks these

We look at every report. What follows depends on what happened and whether it is a pattern:

  • We might remove the content — a name or a photo — and leave the account alone.
  • We might limit what an account can do.
  • We might suspend it, which means it cannot be used at all.
  • Serious cases, and anything involving a minor, go straight to the last one.

A suspended account is not deleted straight away. The data stays for 90 days, and we email after 60 to say what is about to happen. After 90 days it is deleted permanently, and that cannot be undone.

If we got it wrong

Email us. That is not a formality — those 90 days exist so there is time to talk, and we would much rather reinstate an account than lose someone over a misunderstanding. Tell us what happened and we will look again.

Telling us about something

If you see something here that should not be, we want to know:

Email: support@wespliced.com

Or use the report button on the profile in question.

Thanks for helping keep this a good place to be.
